Sometimes a smokey eye can be a bit harsh on the face. With all the dark colors like grey, silver and black it can make you look more like a raccoon than anything else! To tone it down a bit, I like to use a more neutral taupe color to create one of my favorite smokey eyes. Add a little dark brown and black and some liner and mascara and you have a super easy, yet pretty smokey eye!
I used my Naked 2 palette by Urban decay, but you can use any taupe, dark brown, and black you like. You will also need a black pencil liner, black liquid liner and mascara.
First pat the neutral taupe all over your lid and slightly into the crease. Then add a dark brown to your crease. Be sure to blend well as you do not want a harsh line. Next add a touch of black to your outer v and lower lash line. Blend again until there are no more harsh edges and the colors meld into one another. Next line your upper and lower waterline with your black pencil liner. Also slightly line under your lower eyelashes with the pencil. Smudge the liner with a bit of the black and dark brown mixed together. Line your upper lid with the liquid liner creating a small cat eye. Curl your lashes and add mascara and you’re done! It’s easy, yet still looks put together.
If anyone was wondering the exact colors I used for this look, it was tease, busted, and blackout shadows from the Naked 2 palette. I hope you all give this look a try! I would love to see how your’s came out, so please share!
